NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health Tuesday reported 103 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are 16 new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.
The cumulative number of cases in Okaloosa is 13,371.
The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 232, no change.
Statewide, 15,431 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,392,123 cases.
The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 527, two more since the previous report. Currently, there are 67 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, there were 497 test results returned in Okaloosa with 107 positives. The daily positivity rate is 21.53 percent.
As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.
According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 22.4 percent for the week ending January 2, up from 19.4 percent the previous week.
Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 13.7 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
