NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health today reported 183 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are 43 new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.
The cumulative number of cases in Okaloosa is 12,663.
The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 226, two more since the previous report.
Statewide, 13,871 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,306,123 cases.
The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 512, seven more since yesterday. Currently, there are 48 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, there were 771 test results returned in Okaloosa with 182 positives. The daily positivity rate is 23.61 percent.
As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.
According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 19.4 percent for the week ending Dec. 26, up from 17.27 percent the previous week.
Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 11 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
