NICEVILLE, Fla —The Florida Department of Health Thursday reported 140 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County.
The cumulative number of cases in Okaloosa is 12,101.
The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 215, no change.
Statewide, 13,147 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,247,546 cases.
The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 496, five more since the previous day. Currently, there are 44 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, Thursday there were 871 test results returned in Okaloosa with 136 positives. The daily positivity rate is 15.61 percent.
As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.
According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 17.27 for the week ending Dec. 19, down from 18.31 percent the previous week.
Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 9.2 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
