December 18 COVID-19 report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health yesterday reported 114 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. In Niceville and Valparaiso, there are 22 new cases.

The cumulative number of cases in Okaloosa is 11,260.

The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 202, four more since yesterday.

Statewide, 13,000 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,181,483 cases.

The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 478, three since the previous day. Currently, there are 46 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals and three available ICU beds.

With 27% COVID-19 positivity rate, Eglin AFB returning to ‘mission essential’ posture

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 1,025 test results returned in Okaloosa with 123 positives. The daily positivity rate is 12.0 percent, down from 14.15 percent the previous day.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 18.31 percent for the week ending Dec. 12, down from 22.68 percent the previous week.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 9.6 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
