NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health today reported 170 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. In Niceville and Valparaiso, there are 25 new cases.
The cumulative number of cases in Okaloosa is 11,023.

The FDOH reports the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Okaloosa is 191, six more since yesterday.
Statewide, 11,541 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,155,335 cases.
The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 471, five since yesterday. Currently, there are 57 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 573 test results returned in Okaloosa with 171 positives. The daily positivity rate is 29.84 percent, up from 11.16 percent the previous day.
As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.
According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 18.31 percent for the week ending Dec. 12, down from 22.68 percent the previous week.
Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 9.1 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
