NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health today reported 72 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. In Niceville and Valparaiso, there are 21 new cases.
The cumulative number of cases in Okaloosa is 10,853.
The FDOH reports the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Okaloosa is 185, no change.
Statewide, 9,411 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,143,794 cases.
The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 466, two since yesterday. Currently, there are 45 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 681 test results returned in Okaloosa with 76 positives. The daily positivity rate is 11.16 percent, up from 9.54 percent the previous day.
As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.
According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 18.31 percent for the week ending Dec. 12, down from 22.68 percent the previous week.
Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 8.8 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
