NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health Monday reported 20 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. In Niceville and Valparaiso, there are seven new cases.
The FDOH reports the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Okaloosa County is 160, 13 more since the previous report. Of the 160 local deaths, 85 are associated with long-term care facilities.
The cumulative number of cases in Okaloosa now stands at 8,885.
Statewide, 6,659 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current total is 999,319 cases.
The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 426, one since yesterday. Currently, there are 48 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 260 test results returned in Okaloosa with 22 positives. The daily positivity rate is 8.46 percent, down from 13.27 percent the previous day.
As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.
According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 15.3 percent for the week ending Nov. 28, down from 16.39 percent the previous week,
Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 7.7 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
