November 27 COVID-19 report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health Friday reported 186 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. In Niceville and Valparaiso, there are 31 new cases. The Friday report reflects combined data from Nov. 25 and 26. The state did not issue a report on Nov. 26.

The cumulative number of cases in Okaloosa now stands at 8,742.

Statewide, 17,344 new cases were reported by the FDOH.

The FDOH reports the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Okaloosa County is 146, one more since the previous report.

Currently, there are 45 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 487 test results returned in Okaloosa with 52 positives. The daily positivity rate is 10.68 percent, down from 15.77 percent the previous day.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 16.39 percent for the week ending Nov. 21, up from 14.94 percent the previous week,

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 7.4 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
