November 22 COVID-19 report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health reports the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County on Sunday totaled 8,323, 48 new cases since the previous day. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Niceville and Valparaiso is 1,197.

Statewide, 6,587 new cases were reported by the FDOH.

The DOH reports the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Okaloosa County is 145, no change.

The number of cumulative hospitalizations related to coronavirus in Okaloosa is reported to be 405, an increase of two over the previous day. The FDOH reports there are 42 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

Third wave of COVID-19 pandemic hits Florida, but there is some hope

According to the FDOH, there were 693 test results returned Saturday in Okaloosa with 48 positives. The daily positivity rate is 6.93 percent, down from 20.99 percent the previous day.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 16.39 percent for the week ending Nov. 21, up from 14.94 percent the previous week,

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 8.2 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
