August 18 COVID-19 report for Okaloosa; death toll up by 13

Okaloosa County COVID-19 Daily Report

NICEVILLE, FLA, AUGUST 18, 2020 — The Florida Department of Health reports this morning the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County is 3,773, 31 more since yesterday morning. The death toll in Okaloosa now is 63, 13 more deaths reported since yesterday.

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health reports this morning the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County is 3,773, 31 more since yesterday morning. The death toll in Okaloosa now is 63, 13 more deaths reported since yesterday.

The 13 new deaths represent the largest single one-day increase to date for Okaloosa County. Two of the deaths occurred in July but are just now being reported. Eight of the 13 victims resided at long-term care facilities.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Niceville and Valparaiso is 473.

Statewide, 3,838 new cases were reported since yesterday.

The number of cumulative hospitalizations related to coronavirus in Okaloosa is 206.

On Monday, there were 43 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals; 10 in ICU beds. The weekly positivity rate was 7.7 percent.

Here’s the latest breakdown by city in Okaloosa (note that the city is not always reported as part of the initial notification and may be missing while the case is being investigated):

  • Fort Walton Beach, 1,345, nine more since yesterday
  • Destin, 515, two more since yesterday
  • Niceville, 435, seven more since yesterday
  • Crestview, 752, five more since yesterday
  • Shalimar, 190, one more since yesterday
  • Mary Esther, 203, no change
  • Eglin AFB, 29, three more since yesterday
  • Laurel Hill, 35, one more since yesterday
  • Baker, 77, no change
  • Holt, 24, no change
  • Valparaiso, 38, no change
  • Hurlburt Field, 3, two more since yesterday
  • Milligan, 2, no change
  • Missing, 97, two more since yesterday

Florida does not publish data about deaths for persons under 18. Florida also does not publish testing, case or condition data for people in county/local jails, state prisons, migrant communities, or cumulative totals for testing and cases in long-term care facilities, probable cases and deaths before testing was available, or non-resident data at the zip code or city level.
