Maj. Kelly Mattie, EOD flight commander, makes sure his 59-member team is properly equipped and trained.

Mattie recently won a 2017 Air Force Materiel Command annual award in the field grade officer category.

Among his accomplishments, he served as the deputy task force commander at the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.  Also, he was selected to lead a multi-service operational planning team to ensure U.S. EOD forces are properly organized in the Pacific area of responsibility.

“It was very surprising to receive the award,” he said.  “It is truly an honor, but all due credit goes to the great EOD team at Eglin and the hard work they do every day to support the mission.”
