Born Country Western Wear in Niceville features western wear for both men and women. It is at 4612 E. Highway 20, in the newly remodeled building that once was a convenience store.

Born Country Western Wear has opened in Niceville at 4612 E. Highway 20, at the intersection of Hwy. 20 and Hickory Street, just west of the Pineapple Plaza. Its grand opening was March 4.

Located in the newly remodeled building that once was a convenience store, Born Country features western wear for both men and women. A growing inventory includes jeans, women’s tops and dresses, men’s shirts, boots (including sizes for kids), jewelry, and more.

“I’m offering brands I like and have experience with,” said owner Theresa Johnson. “I select brands based on comfort, style, and price.”

Additional lines and famous makers will be arriving in the coming weeks and months.

“I’m feeling out what’s needed,” she said.

New shipments arrive weekly.

In addition to western clothing for those interested in style, Johnson said she soon would offer western wear for those who desire functional, tough, work clothes, as well.

For example, Johnson said she would have farm work boots, jeans, and other work clothing, after several customers expressed interest.

“I’ll be bringing in farm and tack goods, like steel- and fiberglass-toed boots, and rugged, work gear,” said Johnson. Clothing not for style, but for working.”

Johnson, who grew up in Mississippi, has always had a love for western wear and style. She dreamed of opening a western wear store as far back as she can remember.  Recently, she decided to pursue it.

“I thought and prayed about it a lot over the past four years,” she said. “God opened up so many doors for me it was impossible not to fulfill my dream.”

Born Country Western Wear is currently open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Johnson said her hours might change, though, perhaps staying open later in the evening.
