NICEVILLE, Fla. — The 14th Annual Bluewater Bay Marina Pinfish Grand Nationals will take place Saturday, August 2, 2025, bringing families and young anglers together for a morning of friendly competition and summer fun.

The tournament involves teams catching pinfish, a small, scrappy saltwater fish common along Florida’s coast. It begins at 9 a.m. at the Bluewater Bay Marina Complex, with an anglers meeting just prior at 8:45 a.m.

The event is open to two-person teams consisting of one adult (age 16 and up) and one child (age 15 and under), with all fishing limited to Ward Cove using poles only.

Each team must bring its own gear, including two fishing rods and a bucket.

Prizes will be awarded to the top 1st through 12th place finishers, as well as the Abram Sitcer Big Fish Award. Winners will be determined by the aggregate weight of up to 10 fish per team.

All registered junior anglers will receive a tournament T-shirt, and goody bags will be handed out to early registrants.

To guarantee a shirt size, early registration must be completed by July 17. The cost is $25 per team before the deadline and increases to $30 after July 18. Early packet pickup is set for Friday, August 1, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the lobby of LJ Schooners Dockside Restaurant.

Tournament-day packet pickup begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday.

The event is supported by a wide range of community sponsors, including Noah Detention Construction, Costa Family McDonald’s, Peoples Community Bank, Gulf Shore Air, Ship’s Chandler, L4K Charters, Maui Jim Sunglasses, Costa Sunglasses, West Marine, and Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance.

Food will also be available during the event, with hamburgers and hot dogs served at LJ Schooners Dockside Oyster Bar starting at 10:45 a.m.
