WALTON COUNTY, Fla. — A juvenile was airlifted with a gunshot wound on Thursday, Jan. 16, following a shooting on State Road 81 south of C.B. Whitehead Road in the Ponce De Leon area, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) has announced.

According to the WCSO, the incident is under investigation. Initial evidence at the scene indicates the shooting may have been accidental, the WCSO said.
The juvenile was life-flighted by Walton Air Rescue, Florida, for medical treatment. Further details are being withheld to protect the identity of the minor involved.
The WCSO has requested patience from the public as the investigation continues.
