EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. — Starting May 7, all visitors and contractors age 18 and older must present a REAL ID or valid passport to receive a pass for entry onto Eglin Air Force Base, the base has announced.
The new requirement applies to those seeking access without a Department of Defense-issued ID. According to base officials, a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or identification card will be mandatory unless a passport is used instead.
Individuals who already have a current base pass will not need to obtain a new one immediately. However, a REAL ID will be required to renew or obtain a new pass once the existing one expires.
Military members, civilian employees, and others with Common Access Cards or Uniformed Services Identification Cards are exempt from the REAL ID requirement, as those credentials remain valid for base access.
