US 98 Traffic Alert: Nighttime lane closures in Walton County

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. — Drivers in Walton County may encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads this week as crews perform construction and maintenance activities, according to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

— U.S. 98 Widening from Mack Bayou Road to County Road 30A
Drivers may encounter intermittent, alternating lane closures, Sunday, Feb. 25 through Thursday, Feb. 29, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for milling and paving operations at the following locations:

  • U.S. 98 east and westbound, between Mack Bayou Road and County Road 30A.
  • Mack Bayou Road north and southbound between U.S. 98 and Mack Bayou Loop.
  • Goldsby Road north and southbound between U.S. 98 and Commercial Parkway.

— U.S. 98 Resurfacing from east of U.S. 331 to Peach Creek
Drivers may encounter nighttime intermittent U.S. 98 east and westbound lane closures, Sunday, Feb. 25 through Thursday, Feb. 29, from 4 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving operations.

All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
