U. S. Highway 98 road work traffic advisories, Panama City to Pensacola

US HIGHWAY 98, Fla.—Motorists traveling on US 98 along the Emerald Coast should be prepared for potential delays and traffic disruptions this week due to ongoing construction and maintenance activities, according to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). This comprehensive advisory compiles FDOT’s latest updates for Bay, Walton, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Escambia counties, ensuring you have the most up-to-date information before you hit the road.

BAY COUNTY:

— U.S. 98, west of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to east of Louisiana Avenue
U.S. 98 drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures between Tyndall Drive- Airey Avenue, and Louisiana Avenue through the end of August.

— U.S. 98, Widening from Mandy Lane to east of Nautilus Street
Drivers will encounter alternating lane closures between Gulf Boulevard and Nautilus Street, Sunday, June 23 through Thursday, June 27, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews will be installing temporary asphalt and drainage.

— U.S. 98, Widening from east of Nautilus Street to east of Richard Jackson Boulevard
U.S. 98 drivers will encounter alternating lane closures between Clara Avenue and Nautilus Street, Tuesday, June 25 through Thursday, June 27, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Construction crews will be striping pavement.

— State Road 370 (Gulf Coast Parkway)
U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) drivers will encounter a lane closure from East 11th Street to Tram Road Monday, June 24 through Saturday, June 29, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. for turn lane construction. Traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.

— U.S. 98 (Panama City Beach Parkway), Resurfacing from Walton County Line to Heather Drive
Drivers will encounter nighttime intermittent lane closures for asphalt paving activities from Monday, June 24, through Thursday, June 27.

WALTON COUNTY:

— U.S. 98, Widening from Mack Bayou Road to County Road 30A
No construction-related traffic impacts are anticipated for this week.

OKALOOSA COUNTY:

— Brooks Bridge, Replacement Project
Drivers may encounter U.S. 98 alternating lane closures between Ferry Road and Pier Road, Sunday, June 23 through Thursday, June 27, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for utility work and construction activities.

— U.S. 98, Resurfacing from Josie Road to Florida Place Southeast
Drivers may encounter intermittent U.S. 98 lane closures between Josie Road in Mary Esther and Florida Place Southeast in Fort Walton Beach from Sunday, June 23, through Thursday, June 27, between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for concrete work, milling, and paving operations.

— U.S. 98, Routine Underground Utility Maintenance from Calhoun Avenue to Henderson Beach Road in Destin
Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, June 24, through Friday, Aug. 30, to install conduit and fiber underground.

SANTA ROSA COUNTY

— U.S. 98 Widening from Bayshore Road to Portside Drive
Motorists will encounter the following traffic impacts:

  • Median and turn-lane closures from Bayshore Road to Tiger Lake Drive
  • Intermittent lane closures and additional median closures between Bayshore Road and Tiger Lake Drive Sunday, June 23, through Friday, June 28, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for stormwater drainage improvements and paving operations
  • Beginning the week of June 23, motorists traveling westbound along U.S. 98 in Santa Rosa County will encounter a new traffic configuration from east of Ramblewood Drive to west of Bayshore Road. Lanes will be shifted north to allow the contractor to perform roadway widening operations in the median.

ESCAMBIA COUNTY

No FDOT advisories were issued.

All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
