DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. — A convicted felon suspected in a reported theft is facing several charges after the Walton County Sheriff’s Office said it found him in possession of narcotics.
According to a report by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, on August 13, a WCSO deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle as it entered the westbound I-10 on-ramp.
The driver, Keishawn Allen, 27, of DeFuniak Springs, was the suspect in a theft reported to the WCSO earlier that day, the agency said.
When the deputy approached the vehicle, Allen could be seen attempting to hide something under the front passenger seat, the statement said.
A K-9 unit with the DeFuniak Springs Office of the City Marshal was called to the scene and allegedly alerted on the vehicle.
According to the WCSO, a search inside the car revealed narcotic paraphernalia, a 12-gauge shotgun, shotgun shells, marijuana, fentanyl-laced roxies (oxycodone), and methamphetamine.
The WCSO said Allen is a convicted felon in the state of Florida and has been charged with attempting to destroy evidence, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, among other charges.
Allen was given a $10,000 bond. He was reportedly out on bond at the time of his arrest.
