U.S. HIGHWAY 98, Fla. — Motorists traveling along the Emerald Coast corridor from Panama City to Pensacola should prepare for overnight lane closures, detours, and potential delays this week as FDOT crews carry out maintenance and construction on U.S. 98 and other key roadways.
Here is the latest breakdown of traffic disruptions by county:
BAY COUNTY:
— U.S. 98 widening, Mandy Lane to east of Nautilus Street
Mandy Lane will be closed north of the U.S. 98 intersection April 7–11 while new drainage is installed. U.S. 98 lanes will remain open.
— U.S. 98 construction, west of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to east of Louisiana Avenue
Intermittent lane closures continue through May for ongoing construction.
— U.S. 98 (15th Street), resurfacing from east of 23rd Street Flyover to Jenks Avenue
Expect right-turn lane closures and overnight lane closures April 7–13 for signal and sidewalk work.
— Gulf Coast Parkway construction, U.S. 98 to Star Avenue
Lane closures on U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) and Star Avenue will occur April 6–13 for drainage and sidewalk installation.
— Hutchison Boulevard resurfacing, Front Beach Road to Front Beach Road
Daytime lane closures are planned April 7–11.
WALTON COUNTY:
— U.S. 331 resurfacing, south of I-10 to U.S. 90
One northbound left-turn lane onto U.S. 90 is closed, and additional lane closures are scheduled April 6–10 from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
OKALOOSA COUNTY:
— Brooks Bridge replacement project
Expect alternating U.S. 98 lane closures between Ferry Road and Pier Road, and on Santa Rosa Boulevard between Amberjack Drive and Ross Marler Park, April 6–10 from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
— U.S. 98 resurfacing, Josie Road to Florida Place Southeast
Intermittent lane closures between Mary Esther and Fort Walton Beach April 6–10 from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
— Mid-Bay Bridge rehabilitation
Overnight lane closures April 6–10 from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
SANTA ROSA COUNTY:
— U.S. 98 widening, Bayshore Road to Portside Drive
Median and turn lane closures, plus lane closures from Bayshore Road to Tiger Lake Drive, April 6–11 from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
ESCAMBIA COUNTY:
— U.S. 98 (Gregory Street) resurfacing, Palafox Street to east of 14th Avenue
Alternating lane closures April 6–10, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
— Business U.S. 98 (Garden Street) construction, Pace Boulevard to I-110 ramp
Reduced to one lane in each direction through early 2026; detour via Pace Blvd, Cervantes Street, and A Street.
— Additional projects on Pine Forest Road, Scenic Highway, Palafox Street, and I-10 interchanges may also affect travel times.
All scheduled activities are weather-dependent and may be rescheduled. Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution in work zones, particularly at night, and to watch for workers and construction vehicles.
