The City of Niceville announces the retirement of its Chief of Police

NICEVILLE, Fla. — The City of Niceville has announced that its Chief of Police for nearly two decades, David Popwell, is retiring on March 1.

Mr Popwell has served at the helm of the Niceville Police Department for 19 years, and his career in law enforcement spans 40 years, the city said.

The city announced Mr Popwell’s retirement in a brief news release on Sunday morning.

Niceville Police Department Chief, David Popwell, Retires After 40 Years of Remarkable Service

Following a long career of public service and leadership, Niceville Chief of Police, David Popwell, has decided to transition into retirement. Chief Popwell had more than 19 years of service to the City of Niceville and its residents. His retirement will take effect March 1, 2024.
