The announcement was made on Wednesday morning, when the forecast called for over an inch of rain on Saturday. Concerns for the safety and enjoyment of both participants and spectators drove the decision to cancel the event.

“Again, after careful consideration of the weekend weather forecast, the Niceville Valparaiso Christmas Parade scheduled for Saturday, December 9th, is CANCELLED!” the Rotary Club said.

“We are so disappointed to not be able to proceed with the event.”

The Niceville-Valparaiso Rotary Club had originally planned for the Christmas parade to take place on December 2, but thunderstorms on that day forced a change to Dec. 9.
