WALTON COUNTY, Fla. — A 16-year-old boy from Texas has been arrested and charged with aggravated battery for shooting a BB gun at a family walking along County Road 30A, said the Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO).
The BBs allegedly struck children aged 10, 15, and 17 years old.
According to the WCSO, deputies responded to Adagio Condos on Saturday evening last week following the report of the shooting. Reportedly, a dark sedan rolled down a passenger window and fired approximately 20 rounds from a BB gun at a family walking home from dinner.
The FLOCK camera system was utilized, and a vehicle matching the description was located around two miles west of their location.
Deputies reportedly located the vehicle in Seaside, where a perimeter was placed, and Seaside property was checked. The vehicle, a black Audi with Texas tags, was parked near Seaside School. Deputies said they could see a Glock-19 CO2-style BB gun lying on the rear passenger floorboard.
Deputies waited near the vehicle when two individuals reportedly returned. A 16-year-old from Texas was identified as a suspect, and deputies said they used one of the individual’s Snapchats to locate the teen nearby.
According to the WCSO, the 16-year-old later admitted to deputies he shot the BB gun at people walking on the sidewalk. He was charged with aggravated battery, shooting deadly missiles from a vehicle, and child abuse. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
