WCSO deputies were alerted to a stolen vehicle traveling in the area. A responding deputy located the vehicle parked at the McDonald’s on U.S. Highway 331 South and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver, identified as 43-year-old Luis Gerardo Maldonado of Cleburne, Texas, was detained and reportedly admitted to stealing the vehicle in Texas and driving it to Florida.

Mr Maldonado was booked into the Walton County Jail. His bond was set at $10,000, and he remained incarcerated at the time of the sheriff’s office release.

The investigation is ongoing.
