FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — A man suspected in the robbery of a Fort Walton Beach area convenience store on Sunday has been apprehended and arrested by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, the agency said in a press release.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) said it has charged Ryan Cardwell-Belshe, 38, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, with robbery without a weapon.

Investigators said that at about 5 p.m. on August 14, Cardwell-Belshe gave a note demanding money to a clerk working at the AOC Food Mart on Racetrack Road.

After reportedly receiving a small amount of cash, Cardwell-Belshe immediately left the store.

The suspect shown on the store’s surveillance video was recognized by an OCSO sergeant, the OCSO said. The sergeant reportedly saw the man in the area following the robbery and spoke with him. He obtained the man’s name and other information.

The suspect was located and arrested on Tuesday.

On the way to booking, investigators said Cardwell-Belshe stated, “I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.”
