Support the 2014 “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive…Help Restock local food banks

NicevilleMay 3, 2014Updated:May 15, 20142 Mins Read

Wondering how you can help and   make a difference in our community?  By participating in our nation’s and        our community’s Largest Food Drive is how.  The 22nd Annual National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive will be held on Saturday, May 10 and will help our local food banks restock   their pantries.

On Saturday, May 10, the NALC, in conjunction with the US Postal Service, the AFL-CIO, Campbell’s Valpak, and United Way of Okaloosa and Walton Counties, will be collecting non-perishable and non-expired food items from local residents.  Food items needed include quick meals like macaroni, spaghetti, soups, canned meats, peanut butter, canned juice, canned fruits, canned vegetables, baby food, cereal, etc.

To participate, just place your food donation(s) in a bag next to your mailbox early in the morning of Saturday, May 10.  Your letter carrier will pick up your donations as they make their regular mail routes and then deliver them to our local food banks.  It is an easy and convenient way to make a difference right here at home and to help families in need.  Last year, with the help from   the community, we collected 148,631 pounds of food for our local food banks.

The United Way of Okaloosa & Walton Counties’ mission is “to provide leadership and resources to those in need”.  We are a nonprofit organization focusing on Children & Education, Financial Stability/Disaster Support, and Health and Wellness. Partnering with the community and 42 local agencies, we continue to make an impact in the community.
