NICEVILLE, Fla. — On Monday, Okaloosa County Superintendent of Schools Marcus Chambers and school board members thanked local first responders and military members for their contributions to the school district’s video series commemorating the events of 9/11.
According to the Okaloosa County School District (OCSD), the 9/11 video series was produced to help students understand the profound impact of these events. The videos shared personal stories of the day from first responders and military members.
“Their dedication and service are deeply appreciated as we reflect on the bravery and heroism that defined 9/11,” said the OCSD.
Among those acknowledged were Audrey Adams, Communications Assistant Manager with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), Deputy Jon Wohlfarth, School Resource Officer at Edwins Elementary School (OCSO), TSgt Mary Grace Gorrez, 1st Special Operations Force Support Squadron (Hurlburt Field), and TSgt Yusef Gomez, 1st Special Operations Wing A33 (Hurlburt Field).

Additionally, during the Annual First Responder Cookout, sponsored by the Destin Chamber Trustees on September 11 at the Destin Fire Control District, several individuals were honored, including Lindsay Jaehnig, Engineer/Paramedic, Geoff Duplessis, Firefighter/Paramedic, and Doug Kocour, Captain with the Destin Fire Control District.
