FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — The Okaloosa Arts Alliance is inviting students to explore the theme of “Art in Outer Space” as part of its 16th Annual Okaloosa County School Poster Contest.
The contest is open to all K-12 students in Okaloosa County. Submissions may be entered individually or through schools and must include the student’s name, grade, and school on the front of the artwork. Only one entry is allowed per student.
Entries can be mailed to the Okaloosa Arts Alliance at P.O. Box 4426, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32549, or dropped off in person at the Emerald Coast Science Center during regular business hours. The deadline to submit is May 2, 2025, before the close of business.
Winners will be selected in three grade-level categories: elementary (K–4th), middle (5th–8th), and high school (9th–12th). Prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third-place winners in each category, with first-place winners’ art featured in the OAA’s newsletter and on its website.
This year’s prizes are sponsored by Eglin Federal Credit Union, HH Arts, the Arts and Design Society of Fort Walton Beach (ADSO), and the Emerald Coast Science Center.
All submitted posters will be displayed during a celebration event on Sunday, May 4, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Emerald Coast Science Center, where winners will be announced. The event will include a Viewers’ Choice Award and live music by Grow Your Gift Conservatory of Music.
“We are excited to be opening our new planetarium building and are looking forward to partnering with OAA on the space art contest to showcase the planetarium,” said Diane Fraser, Executive Director of the Emerald Coast Science Center.
