Sidewalk construction is part of the State Road 85 Improvement Project from John Sims Parkway to north of College Boulevard in Okaloosa County, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), said in an announcement.

This new sidewalk segment, located south of Fairway Drive, is part of the new sidewalks being constructed on the east side of State Road 85 between Eglin Air Force Base Natural Resources Park and Twin Oaks Sports Complex, the FDOT said.

According to the FDOT, the sidewalks are included in this project to increase safety and mobility for pedestrians.

The $3.4 million improvement project includes milling and resurfacing a 1.5-mile segment of State Road 85 between John Sims Parkway and north of College Boulevard. Crews will also repair sidewalks on the west side of S.R. 85 and enhance drainage. The project is anticipated for completion early this year.
