SHALIMAR, Fla. — Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responding to a “shots fired” complaint on 6th Street in Shalimar Wednesday heard multiple additional gunshots being fired while on the scene talking to the reporting person.
A deputy walking towards the shots noticed a man walk through a sliding glass door into a home at 31 B 6th Street and tried unsuccessfully to make contact.
The resident of that apartment, 29-year-old Timothy Young, is on felony probation until July 2024, according to a report by the OCSO.
Deputies acquired a firearms-related search warrant and found Young and his girlfriend inside.
A search of the attic turned up three firearms, multiple items of ammunition, and approximately 960 pills of alprazolam, according to the OCSO.
A review of Young’s criminal history revealed nine prior felony convictions including trafficking in heroin.
Young is now charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, distribution of a Schedule IV drug, and violation of felony probation.
The investigation continues into the shots fired, which resulted in damage to a nearby residence, according to the OCSO.
