NICEVILLE, Fla. — Volunteers are invited to help protect the local ecosystem by joining the 4th Annual Underwater Cleanup Event in Ward Cove on Saturday, April 19, 2025.

The Bluewater Bay Marina Complex is hosting the event, also known as the “Underwater Dumpster Dive,” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants will meet on the beach near LJ Schooners Dockside Restaurant & Oyster Bar.

The event brings together local scuba divers, paddlers, and community members in an effort to remove trash from beneath boats and docks in the cove.

Scuba divers will handle underwater debris while volunteers on land help weigh, log, and discard items. Kayakers, paddle boarders, canoers, and operators of small boats are encouraged to assist with diver safety and transporting collected materials.

“The goal is to remove items that might be harmful to the bay and our ecosystem,” organizers said in a press release.

Incentives will be offered, with prizes awarded for the most unique item and the most expensive item recovered during the cleanup.
