Santa Rosa and Escambia traffic advisory includes road closures

SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. – Motorists will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Escambia County and Santa Rosa County as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.

Escambia County:

Bayfront Parkway (State Road (S.R.)196) Road Closure for Ciclovia Bike Event
Bayfront Parkway will be closed to traffic between Tarragona Street and 14th Ave from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 26 for the Ciclovia bike event. A signed detour route will be in place.  Local law enforcement will be on-site to assist with traffic control.

Bayfront Parkway (S.R. 196) Road Closure for Maritime De Luna Youth Duathlon
Bayfront Parkway will be closed to traffic between Tarragona Street and Salamanca Street from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, March 27 for the Maritime De Luna Youth Duathlon. A signed detour route will be in place. Local law enforcement will be on site to assist with traffic control.

U.S. 98 Pensacola Bay Bridge Replacement
Drivers will encounter alternating lane closures and lane shifts on the Pensacola Bay Bridge from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, March 27 through Saturday, April 2. Crews will be using lanes on the current bridge as a platform to pour concrete decks for the westbound (Gulf Breeze to Pensacola) structure.

West Cervantes Street (U.S. 90) Pedestrian Safety Improvement – Drivers will encounter the following temporary intermittent lane closures:

  • Inside lane closures and shifts between D and Q streets as crews perform median improvements, signalization installation, and construct curb and gutter and sidewalk.
  • Outside intermittent lane closures will occur at various locations along West Cervantes, between Dominguez and A Streets, to allow crews to construct Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant sidewalk ramps and erect traffic poles.

North Ninth Avenue (S.R. 289) Carpenters Creek Bridge Replacement
All travel lanes are temporarily shifted to the southbound side of the bridge as crews construct the northbound portion. Additionally, drivers may encounter intermittent temporary lane closures from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, March 28 through Friday, April 1, as crews mobilize materials and equipment.

Sorrento Road (S.R. 292) Intersection Improvements at Innerarity Point (County Road 292A)
Motorists can expect intermittent daytime lane closures Monday, March 28 through Friday, April 1, as crews place a watermain.

Airport Boulevard (S.R. 750) Routine Maintenance from West of Palafox Street to Davis Highway
Drivers will encounter alternating lane closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the week of Monday, March 28 as crews perform concrete operations.

Barrancas Avenue (S.R. 292) from Manchester Street to the Bayou Chico Bridge
Sidewalks between Live Oak Avenue and Manchester Street will be closed as crews begin work on the sidewalk improvements. Detours will be in place for pedestrians.

I-10 Routine Bridge Maintenance over Perdido River
Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures near the Alabama/Florida line from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Sunday, March 27 as crews perform routine bridge repairs.

Creighton Road (S.R 742) Routine Bridge Maintenance over the I-110 overpass
Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures, 0.5 miles south of I-10, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Monday, March 28 as crews perform routine bridge repairs. 

I-10 and Interstate 110 (I-110) Routine Utility Maintenance
Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday, March 29 through Thursday, March 31 as crews repair overhead lights.

Interstate 10 (I-10) Pavement Markings at the Pensacola Weigh Station
Crews will perform striping operations at the westbound weigh station the week of Sunday, April 3.  During the operations, the westbound station and adjacent truck parking area will be temporarily closed.

Santa Rosa County:

Pensacola Bay Bridge (U.S. 98) Replacement
Drivers will encounter alternating lane closures and lane shifts on the Pensacola Bay Bridge from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, March 27 through Saturday, April 1. Crews will be using lanes on the current bridge as a platform to pour concrete decks for the westbound (Gulf Breeze to Pensacola) structure.

U.S. 98 Widening from Bayshore Road to Portside Drive
Redfish Point Road will be closed to traffic from 7 a.m. Wednesday, March 30 to 7 a.m. Friday, April 1. This temporary closure will allow crews to install a new water line. Drivers will access Redfish Point Drive via Breezy Wind Drive and Southwind Drive. Detour signs will be in place.

I-10 Resurfacing East of S.R. 281 (Avalon Boulevard) to East of S.R. 87
The eastbound lane will remain reduced to one lane at the C.R. 191 Overpass Bridge (Exit 26) until work associated with bridge approach construction is complete.  Motorists can also expect intermittent lane closures from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. the week of Monday, March 28 as crews perform construction activities.

S.R. 87 Drainage Improvements at Coldwater Church Road
Coldwater Church Road at Highway 87 North will be closed to traffic Monday, March 28 and Tuesday, March 29 as crews replace a cross drain.  Motorists may utilize Lewis Road and Neal Kennington Road as the temporary detour.

All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
