NICEVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has announced that the State Road 20 resurfacing project now underway in Niceville is on target for completion early next year.
The FDOT said the project is estimated for completion in spring 2023.
Construction activities continue this week in Niceville for the resurfacing project from Edge Avenue to west of the Rocky Bayou Bridge.
Crews have constructed new sidewalks along the north side of S.R. 20 near the Panera Bread location, the FDOT said.
According to the FDOT, sidewalk construction will continue on the north side of S.R. 20 through the end of this summer.
Drivers may encounter intermittent outside westbound lane closures on S.R. 20, from Edge Avenue to west of the Rocky Bayou Bridge, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for sidewalk construction.
The $6.2 million project consists of:
- Milling and resurfacing all travel lanes, turn lanes, and medians.
- Constructing a grassed median west of Palm Boulevard.
- Widening the roadway at key locations to extend or shift existing turn lanes to improve traffic flow.
- Constructing a new sidewalk on the north side of S.R. 20 from the Oak Creek Shopping Center to Rocky Bayou Drive.
