Lauren Helms and her husband, Scott, are raising funds for CIC and other charities by donating the revenue from the sales of painting rocks purchased from them. This month, Helms Hauling made a donation of $984.68 to help feed and clothe children living at the CIC neighborhood.

The popularity of rock painting and the generosity of Niceville’s Helms Hauling and Materials has led to more than $2,000 in donations to charitable organizations serving our area, including a near $1,000 donation to Children in Crisis.

“It really makes our children living at the CIC Neighborhood feel special when people from the community are called to action,” said Ken Hair, CIC President & CEO. “This is only one example of the awesome support from people like Lauren who care.”

Lauren and Scott began earmarking the rock proceeds for donating this past January and just one month later made their first donation: $229 to the EOD Warrior Foundation.

A month later, the Helms’ donated $140 to Grace Rides, the Niceville area stables that provides horseback riding and other equine-assisted activities for individuals with special needs.

Alaqua Animal Rescue received the proceeds from May: $780. The month before, $147 was donated to support Gold Star Family activities.

The funds from the July sale of rocks for painting will be donated to Bob Hope Village, a safe, secure home for surviving spouses of retired enlisted U.S. Airmen.

“We’re so pleased to be able to use the popularity of rock painting to help others in our community,” said Lauren.

Helms Hauling and Materials is located at 1423 Pine Street in Niceville (Seminole).
