OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions this week in Okaloosa and Walton counties as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) carries out construction and maintenance projects.
OKALOOSA COUNTY
— Brooks Bridge Replacement Project
Intermittent closures of the U.S. 98 westbound right-turn lane to Perry Avenue northbound are scheduled from Sunday, Oct. 12, through Thursday, Oct. 16, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. The right-turn movement will remain accessible from the outside travel lane during these closures, required for City of Fort Walton Beach utility work.
- Alternating lane closures will occur on U.S. 98 from Ferry Road to Pier Road, and on Santa Rosa Boulevard from east of Amberjack Drive to Ross Marler Park, Sunday, Oct. 12 through Thursday, Oct. 16, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
- The roadway west of the Destin–Fort Walton Beach Convention Center remains closed from U.S. 98 to just north of the roundabout, including a partial roundabout closure. The closure is expected to continue through mid-2026 as crews construct the westbound bridge structure and approach. Access to the Convention Center will remain open via Pier Road. Drivers can reach Marler Park and the boat launch via Santa Rosa Boulevard. U.S. 98 eastbound drivers will detour via the newly constructed East Connection.

Intermittent lane closures will occur at the following locations and times:
- Northbound on State Road 85 from Shoal River Bridge to Interstate 10, Sunday, Oct. 12 through Thursday, Oct. 16, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Southbound on State Road 85 from Interstate 10 to Shoal River Bridge, Sunday, Oct. 12 through Thursday, Oct. 16, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- State Road 85 from Shoal River Bridge to State Road 123, Monday, Oct. 13 through Thursday, Oct. 16, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving operations.
— U.S. 98 Routine Bridge Inspection over East Pass
Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures on Monday, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for routine bridge inspection.
WALTON COUNTY
— U.S. 331 Resurfacing from south of Interstate 10 to U.S. 90
Intermittent and alternating lane closures will occur on U.S. 331 from Coy Burgess Road to U.S. 90, Sunday, Oct. 12, through Thursday, Oct. 16, between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. for paving operations.
- The U.S. 331 northbound outside right-turn lane remains temporarily closed at the U.S. 90 intersection. One northbound left-turn lane and one shared left/right-turn lane are open to access U.S. 90.
- The U.S. 90 westbound outside travel lane is temporarily closed between 11th Street and U.S. 331. One U.S. 90 westbound lane and one left-turn lane to access U.S. 331 remain open.

All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. The FDOT urges drivers to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through work zones, and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
