SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla. – The community is invited to pamper their pup with a cool summer swim session on June 25 at Beach Dog Aqua Therapy. The swim event benefits Dog-Harmony.
For a donation of $30, a family can schedule a private, 30-minute canine swim session with Diane Kenney, a certified canine hydrotherapist, according to an announcement by Beach Dog Aqua Therapy. The regular cost is $45.
The sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 141 Santa Barbara Ave. in Santa Rosa Beach.
According to Beach Dog Aqua Therapy, canine hydrotherapy is low-impact, water-based exercise ideal for dogs of any age that are overweight, recovering from surgery or an injury, suffering from degenerative, spinal, or neurological diseases, or even learning to swim.
“The buoyancy of the water alleviates stress on the dog’s joints, muscles and bones,” said Kenney.
Aqua therapy also provides mental health benefits, she said.
Kenney said she utilizes a positive approach to help dogs overcome a fear of water and boost their confidence while swimming. Hydrotherapy may address behavioral issues by relieving stress and providing an outlet to expel energy.
To schedule your pup’s private hydrotherapy session on June 25, contact Kenney at 850-598-4477 or [email protected].
Proceeds benefit Dog-Harmony, a nonprofit 501(c)3 dedicated to reducing the shelter dog population through humane education.
