WALTON COUNTY, Fla. — One man has been arrested, and the Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) is seeking another following a string of car burglaries in Inlet Beach.

William “Trey” Johnson, of Panama City Beach, was arrested on November 15 in connection with the burglaries, the WCSO said.

According to the WCSO, between the early morning hours of November 13 and Nov. 14, multiple residents on Sand Cliffs Drive reported car burglaries. Four related incidents were confirmed.

A Glock .43 was taken from one of the vehicles, the WCSO said.

Surveillance footage collected by deputies revealed two individuals attempting to break into locked vehicles in the same area as the reported burglaries. Investigators said they identified one suspect as Johnson, reportedly seen in the Inlet Beach video wearing a black long-sleeve hoodie with red lettering.

According to the WCSO, Johnson was arrested at his house in Panama City Beach. The WCSO said the holster to the stolen gun was located, but not the weapon itself.

Authorities suspect that Johnson and his alleged accomplice may be responsible for additional burglaries in Bay County, particularly while driving Johnson’s black Chevy Equinox. During incidents in Bay County, Johnson reportedly changes his attire, wearing a maroon sweatshirt, while the second suspect is described as wearing a dark zip-up hoodie with a white shirt underneath.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the second suspect, described as a white male with a possible height range of 5’10 to 6’1 and a thin build.

Individuals with information are urged to contact the Walton County Sheriff’s Office at (850)-892-8111. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Emerald Coast Crimestoppers at (850)-863-TIPS. Valuable tips leading to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward.
