OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla.—Drivers in Okaloosa and Walton counties may encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads this week as crews perform construction and maintenance activities, according to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). Here is this week’s traffic advisory.
Okaloosa County:
— Brooks Bridge Replacement Project
The week of Jan. 13, Florida Blanca Place SE from First Street to Brooks Street will be temporarily realigned and converted to a one-way traffic configuration. The duration of this temporary configuration is weather-dependent and is currently expected to be in place through mid-February while crews perform drainage work.
The one-way configuration will be for Florida Blanca Place SE eastbound traffic. All westbound Florida Blanca Place SE drivers from Brooks Street to First Street will be detoured via Alconese Avenue SE and First Street.
Detour signage will be in place to direct drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.
Additionally, drivers may encounter the following traffic disruptions, Sunday, Jan. 12 through Thursday, Jan. 16, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for utility work and construction activities:
- U.S. 98 alternating lane closures between Ferry Road and Pier Road
- Santa Rosa Boulevard alternating lane closures from east of Amberjack Drive to Ross Marler Park
— U.S. 98 Dynamic Message Signs
On Tuesday, Jan. 14, drivers will encounter temporary closures of the U.S. 98 outside lanes, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for CCTV pole installation at the following locations:
- U.S. 98 eastbound outside lane, west of Matthew Boulevard
- U.S. 98 westbound outside lane, east of Legendary Drive
— Mid-Bay Bridge Rehabilitation Project
Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures on the Mid-Bay Bridge, Sunday, Jan. 12 through Thursday, Jan. 16, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. for construction activities.
— U.S. 98 Resurfacing from Josie Road to Florida Place Southeast
Drivers may encounter intermittent U.S. 98 lane closures between Josie Road in Mary Esther and Florida Place Southeast in Fort Walton Beach, Sunday, Jan. 12 through Thursday, Jan. 16, between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for manhole adjustments.
— Beal Parkway Intersection Improvements
Drivers may encounter intermittent Beal Parkway (State Road 189) lane closures at Pelham Road, Sunday, Jan. 12 through Thursday, Jan. 16, between 6:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for signalization work.
— Mary Esther Boulevard (S.R. 393) Resurfacing from U.S. 98 to Beal Parkway (S.R. 189)
Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures on Mary Esther Boulevard for crews to place thermoplastic striping and perform traffic signalization work at the following locations and times:
- Sunday, Jan. 12 through Thursday, Jan. 16, from U.S. 98 to Hollywood Boulevard, between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
- Sunday, Jan. 12 through Saturday, Jan. 18, from Hollywood Boulevard to Beal Parkway, between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
Walton County:
— U.S. 331 Resurfacing Project from south of Interstate 10 (I-10) to U.S. 90
Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures Sunday, Jan. 12, through Thursday, Jan. 16, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for concrete work at the following locations:
- U.S. 331 southbound from south of I-10 to U.S. 90
- U.S. 90 from West Sloss Avenue to 11th Street
All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
