DESTIN, Fla. – Okaloosa County’s six high schools are coming together Saturday evening on the harbor in Destin to take part in a community pep rally to mark the beginning of the regular high school football season.
The inaugural Hype on the Harbor: A Community Pep Rally, presented by Okaloosa County School District, will take place on Aug. 20 on the main stage in HarborWalk Village beginning at 5 p.m., according to the Okaloosa County School District (OCSD).
Local harbor restaurants will be grilling out tailgate style during the event, Harborwalk said in a statement.
The pep rally is free and open to the public.
“Hype on the Harbor is an excellent opportunity for everyone in Okaloosa to come out and see the students they support,” said Marcus Chambers, OCSD Superintendent.
“It is also a chance for our high school students to come together and celebrate the start of the school year while sharing their school spirit.”
Destin High School, Niceville High School, Crestview High School, Fort Walton Beach High School, and Choctawhatchee High School will take the stage to represent their school’s spirit at the event.
Those attending are invited to cheer on the students and individual schools.
According to organizers, the event will feature motivational speeches by coaches, band performances, cheer skits, and a contest between mascots.
HarborWalk Village is at 34 Harbor Blvd, Destin, FL 32541
