NICEVILLE, Fla. — The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) has named one of its deputies as the agency’s 2025 Deputy of the Year after a year marked by thousands of service calls, numerous arrests, and continued involvement in the local community.
Deputy Jason Register received recognition for his 2025 performance, during which he reportedly responded to 2,655 calls for service and made 116 arrests while serving with the OCSO.
According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, several of those arrests resulted in the seizure of felony narcotics.
Deputy Register also remained active in traffic enforcement, issuing 12 citations and 244 traffic warnings as part of efforts to improve roadway safety and prevent crime across Okaloosa County.
The OCSO said Mr Register’s casework consistently exceeds expectations and reflects thorough documentation, sound judgment, and strong competence in investigations.
In one investigation, Deputy Register reportedly identified and pursued a case involving a suspect whose actions were said to pose a serious threat to a juvenile victim.
Investigative work by Register is said to have helped establish probable cause that led to charges of Lewd and Lascivious Conduct, reportedly preventing further victimization and highlighting his commitment to protecting children and advocating for victims.
The sheriff’s office said Mr Register is widely respected by colleagues and supervisors, who describe him as a dependable teammate and steady presence during high-pressure situations.
He reportedly volunteers for assignments, assists fellow deputies without hesitation, and places others’ needs before his own while serving the community.
Deputy Register was also recently recognized by a local elected official for outstanding service, according to the OCSO.
The sheriff’s office said Mr Register is known for treating members of the public with respect, patience, and professionalism in every interaction.
Beyond his law enforcement duties, he reportedly remains active in the community and supports organizations including Rocky Bayou Christian School, Toys for Tots, Children in Crisis, Goodwill, and a nonprofit that works to keep siblings together while in foster care.
According to the OCSO, those efforts reflect the agency’s values both on and off duty.
For his consistent performance, strong work ethic, and dedication to excellence, Deputy Register has been named the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office 2025 Deputy of the Year.
