Northwest Florida State College’s Associate in Science in Nursing program has learned that its 2015 graduates earned a pass rate of 100 percent on the nationwide examination for the licensing of nurses.

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing reported that all 40 of the college’s May 2015 nursing graduates who took the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) passed on their first attempt. Overall, the national pass rate was 94 percent, while the Florida pass rate was 72 percent.

The 100 percent pass rate reflects well on the college’s nursing program, said Dr. Marty Walker, director of nursing at NWF State College.

“The percentage of nursing graduates who successfully pass the NCLEX on their first attempt identifies the quality of a program and how well a nursing school prepares its students for practice,” Walker said. “Our Associate in Science in Nursing program’s high-percentage pass rate conveys that our nursing students are well-prepared to take the exam and thus begin their careers in nursing sooner than graduates who may have to retake the exam.

“These types of results can only be accomplished through the efforts of everyone at the college, the nursing faculty, and our many partnerships in the community.”
