November 28 COVID-19 report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health Saturday reported 51 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. In Niceville and Valparaiso, there are 10 new cases.

The cumulative number of cases in Okaloosa now stands at 8,793.

Statewide, 6,277 new cases were reported by the FDOH.

The FDOH reports the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Okaloosa County is 147, one more since the previous report.

The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 424, four since yesterday. Currently, there are 48 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 699 test results returned in Okaloosa with 51 positives. The daily positivity rate is 7.3 percent, down from 10.68 percent the previous day.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 16.39 percent for the week ending Nov. 21, up from 14.94 percent the previous week,

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 7.4 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
