November 18 COVID-19 report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health reports the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County yesterday totaled 7,864, 107 new cases since the previous day. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Niceville and Valparaiso is 1,109.

Statewide, 7,925 new cases were reported by the FDOH.

The DOH reports the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Okaloosa County is 139, no change.

The number of cumulative hospitalizations related to coronavirus in Okaloosa is reported to be 397, an increase of three over the previous day. The FDOH reports there are 45 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, there were 573 test results returned yesterday in Okaloosa with 105 positives. The daily positivity rate is 18.32 percent, up from 15.89 percent the previous day.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 14.94 percent for the week ending Nov. 14, up from 13.61 percent the previous week,

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 8.7 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
