NICEVILLE, Fla. — The City of Niceville will hold its 2025 Municipal Election on March 11, 2025, with the positions of mayor and two city council seats up for election, according to the Okaloosa County Supervisor of Elections Office.
The offices on the ballot include mayor (four-year term) and the Group 2 and Group 4 city council seats, each for four-year terms.
Candidates must be qualified electors of Okaloosa County residing within the City of Niceville limits. Elections are at large, with winners determined by the highest number of votes.
The qualifying period opens at noon on Monday, December 30, 2024, and closes at noon on Friday, January 3, 2025. The Supervisor of Elections Office will be closed on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, for New Year’s Day and will reopen on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 8 a.m.
Candidates must file required paperwork, a nominating petition signed by five qualified electors of Niceville, and pay a filing fee of $72. This fee represents a one percent election assessment as per Florida law. Candidates may waive this fee by submitting an Affidavit of Undue Burden.
Qualifying documents can be submitted at the Supervisor of Elections offices in Shalimar (1250 Eglin Pkwy, Ste 103) or Crestview (302 N Wilson St, Ste 102).
Residents must be registered to vote by Monday, February 10, 2025, to participate in the election. Voting will occur from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Niceville Community Center, located at 204-C Partin Drive N, for registered residents only.
Vote-by-mail ballots will be available through the Supervisor of Elections offices.
