NICEVILLE, Fla. — The City of Niceville is calling on the community to help honor America’s heroes by nominating a Grand Marshal for the 2025 Veterans Day Parade, set for Saturday, November 15, at 10 a.m.
The Grand Marshal role will go to a veteran whose life reflects patriotism, service, and sacrifice. The city is asking residents to put forward a veteran whose story embodies the values that make Niceville proud.
A name, photo, and short write-up should be included with each nomination.
The Veterans Day Parade is a new Niceville tradition, now in its second year. It was launched in 2024 under the leadership of City Manager David Deitch and quickly drew families, schools, and organizations together in a show of patriotism.
Residents lined the streets to wave flags, children saluted, and the community came together to honor those who have served.
According to the City of Niceville, registration is now open at cityofniceville.org for groups and participants who want to take part in this year’s procession. Local organizations, civic groups, schools, and businesses are invited to register entries that will march, ride, or perform during the event.
City officials said the parade is more than a procession. It is a chance for the entire community to gather in unity and gratitude, celebrating the lives of veterans while remembering the sacrifices made by their families.
From the smallest child waving a flag to the oldest veteran proudly wearing a cap, the Niceville parade is intended to be a shared expression of pride and remembrance.

The City of Niceville emphasized that selecting a Grand Marshal is one of the most important ways the community can participate. The individual chosen will lead the parade as a visible reminder of the patriotism and dedication of all who have worn the uniform.
Nominations for Grand Marshal should be submitted by email to pio@nicevillefl.gov with the veteran’s name, photo, and a brief write-up.
