NICEVILLE, Fla. — The City of Niceville has appointed a new Chief of Police with over 33 years of law enforcement experience.
Mark Hayse, who previously served with the Fort Walton Beach Police Department, will begin his role on August 30, 2024. The city announced that Chief Hayse has a strong commitment to public safety and has earned respect from colleagues and community members alike.
As Chief of Police, Hayse will oversee all operations of the Niceville Police Department and collaborate with city officials to address the community’s needs and concerns. His leadership is expected to uphold the department’s dedication to serving and protecting its citizens.
“The City of Niceville welcomes Chief Hayse and is confident that his experience and leadership will benefit the entire community,” the city stated.
Former Chief of Police David Popwell retired on March 1, 2024, after serving as chief for nearly two decades.
