Brittany Tate, a graduate of Niceville High School and the University of Alabama, was approved for the leadership position during the Okaloosa County School Board meeting on June 9.

After college, Ms Tate joined AmeriCorps, where she led the implementation of hands-on science lessons in local elementary schools. Her passion for education led her to earn a master’s degree in Instructional Technology from the University of West Florida, and she later transitioned into a full-time classroom role.

In Okaloosa County, Ms Tate has taught at both Niceville High School and Pryor Middle School, where she spent most of her career as an 8th-grade Science teacher. She has also served as Science Department Chair, Robotics Coach, Cross-Country and Volleyball Coach, and a representative on the School Advisory Council.

A leader in classroom instruction and innovation, Ms Tate has hosted numerous technology training sessions for fellow educators and is a seasoned grant writer, credited with securing more than $2.5 million in funding for local schools.

In 2023, she was honored as Okaloosa County’s Teacher of the Year and recognized by United Way as a “40 Under 40” honoree. She earned her second master’s degree, this time in Educational Leadership, in 2024.

Outside of her professional roles, Ms Tate enjoys running, cooking, live music, and following pop culture. She values time with family and friends and remains a passionate advocate for students, teachers, and the strength of community.
