The EOD Warrior Foundation received a big endorsement this week when Mrs. Ohio, Rebecca Lynn Ryan, announced that she chose the organization for her platform partnership. Mrs. Ryan is a military wife, married to an active duty Air Force EOD warrior and Purple Heart recipient, who wants to help raise awareness and help EOD technicians as they transition from military service to civilian lives.

“We are incredibly excited that Rebecca chose us as her platform charity,” explains Nicole Motsek, executive director of the EOD Warrior Foundation. “Mrs. Ohio is going to help raise awareness for the EOD community and hopefully forward our efforts at the Foundation.”

Mrs Ohio Rebecca Lynn RyanRebecca Lynn Ryan comes from a small Ohio town and was crowned Mrs. Ohio 2016 in the premier pageant for married women. The pageant started in 1986, and represents married women from all 50 states and U.S. territories. Mrs. Ryan now advances to the United States National Pageant, which takes place August 1-5, 2016, at The Palms in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“My goal is to bring attention to this organization that directly impacts not only the local community and my family, but also the nation,” says Mrs. Ryan. “It is the least that I can do to give back to those who are willing to put their lives on the line. I am extremely honored and humbled to be able to represent our EOD community and their families throughout 2016.”

There are around 7,000 EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) technicians in the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force, performing the most dangerous job in the military, as they disarm terrorist bombs and explosive devices on the battlefields and here at home. Many EOD personnel come home with debilitating injuries, including lost limbs, blindness, paralysis, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), burns, and the invisible wounds of war, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The EOD Warrior Foundation is a nonprofit organization that helps military EOD personnel and their families. The EOD Warrior Foundation’s mission is to provide assistance to EOD techs and their families. They help with such things as emergency financial relief, education costs, and health and wellness expenses for former EOD technicians and their families. The foundation also maintains the EOD Memorial Wall at Eglin Air Force Base, which honors EOD technicians who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
