The Florida Department of Transportation is holding a hybrid public meeting on Tuesday, Aug 16, 2022, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. (CDT) to discuss resurfacing improvements on U.S. 29 (North Palafox Street) from U.S. 90 (Cervantes Street) to State Road (S.R.) 296 (Brent Lane/Beverly Parkway) in Escambia County. (Florida Department of Transportation).

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The public is invited to express their views concerning the proposed improvements to U.S. 29 (North Palafox Street) during a public meeting to be held in Pensacola and virtually.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold the hybrid public meeting on Tuesday, Aug 16, 2022, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (CDT), the FDOT has announced.

The meeting will focus on resurfacing improvements on U.S. 29 (North Palafox Street) from U.S. 90 (Cervantes Street) to State Road (S.R.) 296 (Brent Lane/Beverly Parkway) in Escambia County.

Interested persons may attend the virtual meeting at www.nwflroads.com/virtualmeetings.

Those who are unable to participate virtually may attend the meeting in person at the Spencer Bibbs Center, 2005 North 6th Avenue in Pensacola.

Preregistration is required for the virtual format and encouraged for in-person attendees, the FDOT said.

Interested persons can visit the project website and register for one viewing option (virtual or in-person). If you have any questions or issues registering, please contact Sandra Lamb, P.E., FDOT Project Manager, at (850) 415-9005 or via email at slamb@hntb.com.

According to the FDOT, the intent of the project is to resurface U.S. 29 from West Scott Street to S.R. 296 (Brent Lane/Beverly Parkway), reconstruct the U.S. 29 at S.R. 292 (Pace Boulevard) intersection to improve traffic flow, and add safety and mobility improvements from U.S. 90 (Cervantes Street) to West Scott Street. Minor right-of-way acquisition will be required.

Bids for construction are scheduled to occur in the spring of 2023, the FDOT said.

Additional project information is available and can be viewed on the project’s website.

Maps, drawings, and other information will be on display. FDOT representatives will be available to discuss proposed improvements, answer questions, and receive comments.

Persons wishing to submit written comments may do so at the meeting or may contact the FDOT Project Manager using the information provided above.

The deadline to submit official comments is Friday, Aug. 26, 2022.
