May 17 COVID-19, vaccination report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Monday reported seven newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are two new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.

The FDOH reports 81 vaccinations were administered in Okaloosa County the previous day. The cumulative number of people vaccinated in Okaloosa is 65,080. The number of people who have completed the vaccination series in Okaloosa is 53,900, according to FDOH data.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 20,709.

The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 363, no change since the previous report.

Statewide, 1,976 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 2,293,980. The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 36,133.

The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 752, no change since the previous day. Currently, there are 9 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 153 test results returned in Okaloosa with 7 positives. The daily positivity rate is 4.58 percent.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 4.43 percent for the week ending May 15, down from 5.45 percent the previous week.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 6.2 percent  (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
