March 26 COVID-19, vaccination report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Friday reported 15 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are no new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.

The FDOH reports 971 vaccinations were administered in Okaloosa County the previous day. The cumulative number of people vaccinated in Okaloosa is 40,024. The number of people who have completed the vaccination series in Okaloosa is 26,691, according to FDOH data.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 19,682.

The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 348, one more death since the previous report.

Statewide, 5,750 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 2,033,179 The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 33,116.

The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 704, one less since the previous day. Currently, there are 5 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 403 test results returned in Okaloosa with 17 positives. The daily positivity rate is 4,22 percent.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 6.1 percent for the week ending March 20, down from 7.9 percent the previous week.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 8.6 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
